Vodafone’s Coding Program for Teenage Girl: A Initiative by Vodafone to close Gender Gap in STEM

To kick off its new Technology Initiative Vodafone has launched world’s farthest reaching girls coding program to fill the gap in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Medicine) careers.

Gender Inequality in STEM has been a concern for many years. According to UNESCO report in India Only 12% women are in research field.  To close this crater, Vodafone has announced plans to provide training (#CODELIKEAGIRL) to teenage girls across 26 countries on coding, including 14 to 18-year-old girls in India.

What is this Vodafone’s coding Program ?
In this digital era coding is most important and one of the most in-demand skills across industries. There is a lots of carrier opportunity in the field of programming also research proved that it helps to get high salary job. Vodafone collaborated with Code First: Girls an organization specially engaged in providing coding courses for women and girls.
Vodafone’s coding course is a five-day, coding workshops for teenage for all girls of ages 14 to 18, irrespective of their skills. During this workshop girls can learn computer program development and programming languages including html, CSS, GitHub and Bootstrap. After successful completion of this workshop students can develop a website . 

How can I enroll for Vodafone’s coding program ?
Vodafone will be partnering with schools across its markets, while girls whose schools are not involved can register their interest with Vodafone directly (Click Here to Register). The course will run across Vodafone’s markets from July until October this year.

Empowering women and helping young people increase their skill-set through technology are two important areas of focus for Vodafone as part of the company’s 10-year sustainable business goals. By 2025, Vodafone’s ambition is to be the best employer for women. The company is also seeking to connect 50 million women living in emerging markets to help improve their lives and livelihoods, company said in the release.
